Buy/Sell Volume
Explanation
AnalyticsBuy/Sell Volume tracks aggressive order flow: how much capital hits the market with market orders (the "taker" side) rather than sitting in limit orders (the "maker" side) — a taker buy lifts the offer, a taker sell hits the bid, and the balance is one of the cleanest short-term reads on which side is being aggressive. This is buy vs sell flow, not total trading volume, aggregated across major futures venues and plotted against price. The Net view (default) shows taker buy minus sell as one histogram (green/red); the Buy/Sell view plots each side separately so absolute size is visible. An interval selector (1H/4H/1D/1W) trades history for detail; stat boxes show the latest buy, sell, split and net; a per-exchange table breaks down current 24h flow by venue.
Watch for divergences: when price drifts one way but net taker flow leans the other, the aggressive money is fading the move. Those divergences have often preceded short-term reversals.
Methodology note: Every trade pairs a resting limit order (maker) with an incoming market order (taker); this chart sums the taker side of every trade across tracked futures venues. A rally accompanied by net taker buying reflects capital actively flowing in; one where takers are net selling into rising price reflects thinner, more fragile participation. Taker flow is fast and noisy — it describes short-term pressure over hours to days, not a longer-term positioning signal.
